The dashed lines in Fig. 5 were drawn based on labeling of all arch NCCs (green) by dlx2a. Nr2f expression (magenta) is elevated to varying degrees in the mandibular domain of edn1 mutants, (white arrows), whereas Edn1 misexpression induced by heat-shocking hsp70l:Gal4; UAS:Edn1 embryos from 20-24 hpf abolished most arch Nr2f expression.
