Statement of Research Interest
Current research activities in my laboratory focus on the following areas:
(1) Functional genomics approach to study regulatory mechanism of growth factors and transcription factors involved in the growth of teleosts; (2) Establishment of functional genes as molecular markers of breeding to improve broodstock of the grouper and tilapia for growth promotion and disease-resistance; (3) Development of muscle-specific promoter/enhancer applied in transgenic fish to study functional genes in fish muscle growth and regeneration and to use fish muscle as bioreactor to produce interested proteins; (4) Zebrafish as an animal model to investigate molecular mechanisms of liver development and human liver diseases from steatosis to liver cancers.
