I am interested in many aspects of using the zebrafish as a model system for cancer-related research. We have been able to use the zebrafish embryo as well as the adult fish to test ideas and reagents relevant to the treatment of cancer through anti-angiogenic approaches. In addition to learning experimental techniques, my experience with zebrafish care has broadened my understanding of vertebrate animal use in biomedical research. These experiences will enrich my understanding of veterinary care and the scientific approach as I pursue future studies in a D.V.M./ Ph.D. program.
