Statement of Research Interest
All conscious movement uses skeletal muscles. To generate a functional musculature, precursor cells need to be positioned correctly during embryonic development, fuse together into multinucleate muscle fibers, and generate intricate contractile machinery. Our lab investigates how the musculature forms and using zebrafish embryos, with a particular focus on hypaxial muscle development and myofibril formation.
