Statement of Research Interest
We are interested in understanding the cellular and molecular mechanism that control mucosal tolerance and inflammation in the intestine of zebrafish, as well as the influence of the microbiota in both processes. To this end, we are characterizing the specific participation of different immune cells, with emphasis on macrophage, dendritic cells, and T cells. In addition, we are Iooking to identify the neutrophils subpopulation that participate in a chronic intestinal inflammatory process, and at the same time we are searching for natural compounds that protect the intestine from tissue damage caused by the excessive neutrophils infiltration into the intestine during chronic inflammation. Finally, we are exploring different nanoparticles platforms to improve the effect of anti-inflammatory drugs.
