Definition
The posterior hypaxial muscle is an early-forming ventral body wall muscle, located immediately posterior to the fin and positioned like a chest muscle. Migratory muscle precursor from somites 4-7 using the middle and posterior stream contribute to the PHM. Stabilizes the sternohyoid during suction feeding. Insertion point is on the cleithrum. (3)
