ZFIN ID: ZDB-EXP-190625-9
Experiment Conditions Description: transection: caudal fin, chemical ablation: macrophage, chemical treatment by environment: metronidazole, chemical treatment by environment: prostaglandin E2
transection: caudal fin
Name: transection
Synonyms:
Definition: Cutting transversly of an organ or tissue. Type of cutting often used to divide the spinal cord to investigate neural regeneration in zebrafish.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000181]
Name: caudal fin
Synonyms: tail, tail fin
Definition: Fin that is the most posterior median fin. It is composed of a complex of three modified centra and modified neural and hemal arches and spines.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0001058]
chemical ablation: macrophage
Name: chemical ablation
Synonyms:
Definition: Experimental condition which uses a chemical to ablate an anatomical structure or cell.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000169]
Name: macrophage
Synonyms: histiocyte
Definition: A mononuclear phagocyte present in variety of tissues, typically differentiated from monocytes, capable of phagocytosing a variety of extracellular particulate material, including immune complexes, microorganisms, and dead cells.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0009141]
chemical treatment by environment: metronidazole
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000238]
Name: metronidazole
Synonyms: 1-(2-hydroxy-1-ethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(beta-ethylol)-2-methyl-5-nitro-3-azapyrrole, 1-(beta-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(beta-oxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 2-(2-methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazol-1-yl)ethanol, 2-methyl-1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-5-nitroimidazole, 2-methyl-3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-nitroimidazole, 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-1-ethanol, metronidazol, metronidazole, metronidazolum
Definition: A member of the class of imidazoles substituted at C-1, -2 and -5 with 2-hydroxyethyl, nitro and methyl groups respectively. It has activity against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, and has a radiosensitising effect on hypoxic tumour cells. It may be given by mouth in tablets, or as the benzoate in an oral suspension. The hydrochloride salt can be used in intravenous infusions. Metronidazole is a prodrug and is selective for anaerobic bacteria due to their ability to intracellularly reduce the nitro group of metronidazole to give nitroso-containing intermediates. These can covalently bind to DNA, disrupting its helical structure, inducing DNA strand breaks and inhibiting bacterial nucleic acid synthesis, ultimately resulting in bacterial cell death.

chemical treatment by environment: prostaglandin E2
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000238]
Name: prostaglandin E2
Synonyms: (15S)-prostaglandin E2, (5Z,11alpha,13E,15S)-11,15-dihydroxy-9-oxoprosta-5,13-dien-1-oic acid, (5Z,13E)-(15S)-11alpha,15-Dihydroxy-9-oxoprost-13-enoate, (5Z,13E)-(15S)-11alpha,15-Dihydroxy-9-oxoprosta-5,13-dienoate, (5Z,13E,15S)-11alpha,15-dihydroxy-9-oxoprosta-5,13-dien-1-oic acid, (E,Z)-(1R,2R,3R)-7-(3-Hydroxy-2-((3S)-(3-hydroxy-1-octenyl))-5-oxocyclopentyl)-5-heptenoic acid, (Z)-7-((1R,2R,3R)-3-hydroxy-2-((S,E)-3-hydroxyoct-1-enyl)-5-oxocyclopentyl)hept-5-enoic acid, Cervidil, Cerviprime, Cerviprost, Dinoproston, dinoprostona, dinoprostone, dinoprostonum, Enzaprost E, Glandin-E2, Minprositin E2, Minprostin E2, PGE2, Prepidil, Propess, Prostaglandin E2, Prostarmon E, Prostenone, Prostin, Prostin E2, U 12062, U-12,062, U-12062
Definition: Prostaglandin F2alpha in which the hydroxy group at position 9 has been oxidised to the corresponding ketone. Prostaglandin E2 is the most common and most biologically potent of mammalian prostaglandins.
