Biography and Research Interest
Giuseppe Montalbano is Associate Professor of Veterinary Anatomy at Department of Veterinary Sciences of University of Messina. His research topics are focused on different veterinary species and also zebrafish (Danio rerio) used as experimental model. The techniques utilized in the different experiment are principally light microscopy, morphometry, immunohistochemistry, scanning electron microscopy, molecular biology including western blot and q-RT PCR. The topics on zebrafish that found the application in human species, regards the sensory systems, with particular focus on regeneration of sensory cells, and obesity with correlation on metabolic syndrome. The studies consider the expression of different protein in different physiological and pathological conditions with particularly interest on neurotrophins in central and peripheral nervous system.
