Phenotype: precaudal vertebra hemal arch fused with precaudal vertebra hemal arch, abnormal
Note: This statement combines anatomy and/or ontology terms with phenotype quality terms to create a complete phenotype (EQ) statement. For detailed information on individual terms, click the hyperlinked term name.
Name: precaudal vertebra
Synonyms: abdominal vertebra, precaudal vertebrae, trunk vertebra
Definition: Post-cranial vertebrae lacking hemal spines (Weitzman, 1962), refers generally to the anterior vertebral region bounding the abdominal cavity. Alternate but not quite synonymous terms are abdominal or trunk vertebrae, which bear parapophyses and ribs. In many actinopterygians dorsal to the posterior abdominal cavity there are transitional vertebrae lacking ribs but also without hemal spines or sometimes even enclosed hemal arches. The primary definition would identify these vertebrae as precaudal.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0000263]
Name: hemal arch
Synonyms: haemal arch, ventral arcocentrum
Definition: Hemal arches extend ventrally from the centra of caudal and transitional vertebrae to enclose the caudal artery and vein. In cyprinids, the hemal arch forms directly in membrane bone.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0000519]
Name: fused with
Synonyms: coalesced, fused, fused to, joined with, merged with
Definition: A structural quality inhering in a bearer by virtue of the bearer's being merged with another entity.
