Phenotype: spermatocyte reciprocal meiotic recombination arrested, abnormal
Note: This statement combines anatomy and/or ontology terms with phenotype quality terms to create a complete phenotype (EQ) statement. For detailed information on individual terms, click the hyperlinked term name.
Name: spermatocyte
Synonyms: spermatocytes
Definition: A male germ cell that develops from spermatogonia. The euploid primary spermatocytes undergo meiosis and give rise to the haploid secondary spermatocytes which in turn give rise to spermatids.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0009005]
Name: reciprocal meiotic recombination
Synonyms: female meiotic recombination, gene conversion with reciprocal crossover
Definition: The cell cycle process in which double strand breaks are formed and repaired through a single or double Holliday junction intermediate. This results in the equal exchange of genetic material between non-sister chromatids in a pair of homologous chromosomes. These reciprocal recombinant products ensure the proper segregation of homologous chromosomes during meiosis I and create genetic diversity.
Ontology: GO: Biological Process [GO:0007131]    QuickGO    AmiGO
Name: arrested
Synonyms: abolished, incomplete
Definition: A quality of a process which ends earlier than the natural end time or reference process.
Ontology: Phenotypic Quality Ontology [PATO:0000297]
